CFMS West Consulting Inc. – Team

CFMS West staff has experience in the commissioning and operation of building control systems. We maintain our knowledge as technology advances and are recognized as specialty consultants and experienced with integration of Building control systems.

Al Haye
After working with CFMS Consulting for 2 years, CFMS West Consulting was created. Al is the President and a partner of CFMS West Consulting. Al began his career at Bell Canada in the real estate division for more than 20 years. During that time he worked in several divisions which included project manger for mechanical, electrical and architectural construction projects. Al was also a Facility Manager, Mechanical Systems Instructor and a Client Centre Manager. As the client centre manager he was responsible for 2100 locations in Ontario. Al is a certified real property administrator (RPA) under the Building Owners and Manager Institute Canada program. (BOMA) He also brings with him many years of experience in building automation controls, computer room environmental controls and critical HVAC equipment commissioning and maintenance. The recent change in design techniques due to LEED requirements has seen Al on several project design teams. The integrated design approach has allowed his years of experience be an asset to all team members.

Sue Wunderlich
Sue had over 20 years experience in sales, marketing and accounting prior to joining CFMS in 2003. Once she arrived, she dedicated a year to learning about the commissioning process, while working extensively in the field to garner in-depth, hands-on experience. Sue assisted with the start up of CFMS West in 2004 and today is one of its partners. She is responsible for sales, managing the office administration, and accounting for CFMS West. Sue continues to work with both teams to build their account bases, working with our industry partners and preparing proposals. Sue's knowledge of commissioning coupled with her strong business skills makes her a valuable member of the CFMS teams.

Dave Haye
Dave joined us in May of 2005 as a project manger in training. He was a graduate of Mohawk College in Hamilton where he received his Mechanical Engineering Technician's certificate. While attending college, Dave gained experience in HVAC maintenance in commercial facilities and controls verification. Over the past 4 years, Dave has been trained by his father in all aspects of the commissioning process. Dave has assisted with performance testing and training on many projects. He is currently a project manager and has successfully commissioned many schools in Hamilton and London and St. Peters Hospital.

Mark Kacsmar
Mark has been a senior project manager for CFMS West since 2006. Prior to working with CFMS West, Mark had worked with Siemens Building Technologies responsible for engineering and project managing the installation of building automation systems in new and retrofitted buildings. Mark also spent 22 years with Honeywell designing and managing the installation of building automation systems in the industrial and institutional marketers for Southwestern Ontario. Mark had 9 years with Barber-Colman as the branch system designer for temperature control systems (pneumatic, electric and/or electronic) and building automation systems. Mark has a thorough knowledge of, and the experience to manage the commissioning process. His knowledge and 40 years experience in building automation and commissioning building systems, project management, and his ability to work in a team environment is a valuable asset on any project.

Jim Gilpin
Jim joined CFMS West in January 2008 as an assist to our project managers. He worked in every aspect of the commissioning process but his expertise lies in the Electrical division. He brings with him 42 years of experience in Electrical Design and Construction Management. Jim has witnessed testing of many switchboards and standby power engines at manufacturing plants before they arrive on site and then followed up with the tests on site. Jim has managed the electrical contract administration on libraries, art galleries, schools, office building, Pearson Airport Infield Project, William Osler Hospital, Community Centres, and shopping malls in Calgary and Vancouver. Jim previously worked with Bell Canada and managed the Switchboard Maintenance program for Ontario.

Jackie Haye
Jackie joined CFMS West in May 2008 as the administrative assistant to the project managers. She is responsible for the set up of projects, writing reports and documenting the performance testing forms. During her first year she has learned to complete the billings and invoicing, assist with the office operations and has assisted the project managers in the field to conduct performance testing.

Sinan Rasheed
Sinan is a project manager with CFMS West since January 2009 and has over 17 years of experience in the HVAC industry. His extensive experience was primarily in the Middle East, covering a wide range of projects specifically in the HVAC design and included a supervision and installation role. He continues to use his project management skills, supported by a Bachelors of Science Degree (B. Sc in Mechanical engineering), certifications and a wide range of training courses in engineering theory and project management from professional institutions bodies like ASHRAE, IIR, USGBC, etc. Since he joined CFMS West, Sinan has assisted with the commissioning process for various projects varying in size and types. Sinan is working on projects to include Milton Town Hall and Pine Glen Soccer Facility. Currently he is one of the main contacts for one of our newest accounts, Research in Motion with buildings in Mississauga, Cambridge, Waterloo, Halifax and Ottawa. Sinan Rasheed is a LEED AP of the U.S. Green Building Council, a council and Member of ASHRAE and a past member of IFMA. Sinan holds a B.Sc. degree in Engineering from the University of Technology in Baghdad.

Don Stencell
Don brings over 30 years of experience in control and HVAC systems to CFMS West. Prior to working with CFMS West, Don was a senior system representative with Johnson Controls, a senior technical specialist with Honeywell and a senior systems specialist with Siemens Building Technologies. Most recently he worked as a controls commissioning engineer with the Detroit Public School Board and was responsible for coordination and directing commissioning consultants, contractors and project managers in the commissioning process. He also participated in plans and specification peer review, contract compliance, system verification and functional testing. Don is one of our project managers who will be responsible for many existing accounts in the London and Windsor corridor.


CFMS West participates in the Co-op program at the University of Waterloo. It is our goal to give students knowledge in all aspects of engineering from design through to seasonal testing.
