Al Haye, President/Principal R.P.A., M.E.

Al brings to CFMS-West 20 years’ experience in the Property Management and H.V.A.C. business from both a hands on and management perspective. He holds an Ontario license in Refrigeration, Electrical and as a Gas Fitter. During the last 10 years he has been putting his experience to use in Project Management and the commissioning of building systems.

Al began his career in the real estate division for more than 20 years. During that time he worked in several divisions which included project manager for mechanical, electrical and architectural construction projects. Al was also a Facility Manager, Mechanical Systems Instructor and a Client Centre Manager. As the client centre manager he was responsible for 2100 locations in Ontario. Al is a certified real property administrator (RPA) under the Building Owners and Manager Institute Canada program (BOMA). He also brings with him many years of experience commissioning and maintenance. The recent change design approach has allowed his years of experience be an asset to all team members. Since 1997 Al has been involved in commissioning of facilities, and in 2000 joined CFMS Toronto. After working with CFMS Toronto for 2 years, CFMS-West was created. Al is the President and partner of CFMS-West Consulting.

Sinan Rasheed, Senior Project Manager P Eng., PMP, LEED AP

Sinan Rasheed graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree (B. Sc in Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Technology in Baghdad. He is a Professional Engineer of Ontario (P. Eng.), Project Management Professional (PMP) of PMI, LEED AP of the U.S. Green Building Council, and Member of ASHRAE. Sinan’s extensive experience of over 17 years, primarily in the Middle East & Canada, covers a wide range of projects Mainly in Project Management, Commissioning & HVAC design.

Prior to joining CFMS West, Sinan spent 3 years in Dubai, UAE as a senior Manager. During that period, Sinan was involved with all aspects of mechanical consulting, from conceptual to final design, tendering, construction site supervision, project management and project close-out.

Sinan has joined CFMS West in 2009 as a Senior Project Manager responsible for managing the commissioning activities for many of the CFMS West large projects including several specialty office buildings, Data Centers, industrial projects, LEED projects & hospitals.

Sinan's extensive Project Management experience, his ability to utilize his Engineering knowledge and strong communication skills make him a valuable asset of the CFMS West team.

Steve Jankus, Senior Project Manager C.E.T., LEED AP BD+C

Steve is an Honours graduate of the Electrical Engineering Technology (Control) program at Mohawk College of Applied Arts & Technology.

After his graduation from college, he worked for 7 years in the Building Efficiency – New Installation department. He started as a system technician, responsible for point-to-point verification and application downloading. Later, he transitioned to the Lead Systems Specialist role, which brought with it custom application programming and project management responsibilities.

Steve joined the CFMS-West Consulting team in February 2010 as a Senior Project Manager. He brings with him over 8 years of experience in the construction industry relating to building automation and commissioning.

Mike Snyder, Project Manager B.A.Sc., LEED AP BD+C

Mike Snyder graduated from the University of Waterloo in April 2010 with a Bachelor of Applied Sciences Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and energy transfer in buildings.

Mike’s degree included six 4-month co-op work terms in various areas of mechanical engineering including building HVAC design and building commissioning.

Since beginning work at CFMS-West Consulting in May 2010, Mike has become a Project Manager for several projects including a few LEED buildings, and assisted other project managers with commissioning tasks. Mike’s work on these projects includes project management, design reviews, static & dynamic testing, O&M manual reviews, submittal reviews, performance testing, preparing re-commissioning manuals, seasonal testing, and system troubleshooting.

Mike is a Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) member and earned his LEED AP BD+C accreditation in March 2011. Mike is planning to pursue P.Eng. Certification once he has met the PEO work experience requirements.

Jim Gilpin, Electrical Commissioning Manager

Jim Gilpin has been an Electrical Commissioning Manager with CFMS-West since 2007. He brings with him 42 years of experience in Electrical Design and Construction Management. Jim has witnessed testing of many switchboards and standby power engines at manufacturing plants before they arrive on site and then followed up with the tests on site.

Jim has managed the electrical contract administration on libraries, art galleries, schools, office building, Pearson Airport Infield Project, William Osler Hospital, Community Centres, and shopping malls in Calgary and Vancouver.

Mark Kacsmar, Control Specialist

Mark Kacsmar has been a Control Specialist with CFMS-West since 2006. He brings with him over 40 years of experience in the construction industry relating to temperature controls and building automation systems and commissioning services. Mark has been responsible for the overall commissioning and reporting of projects that have been assigned to him.

Prior to working with CFMS West, Mark was responsible for engineering and project managing the installation of building automation systems in new and retrofitted buildings. Mark also spent 22 years designing and managing the installation of building automation systems in the industrial and institutional marketers for South-western Ontario. Mark also has 9 years as the branch system designer for temperature control systems (pneumatic, electric and/or electronic) and building automation systems.

Mark has a thorough knowledge of, and the experience to manage the commissioning process. His knowledge and experience in building automation and commissioning building systems, project management, and his ability to work in a team environment is a valuable asset on any project.

Dave Haye

Dave joined us in May of 2005 as a project manager in training. Dave was a high school graduate in the area of electrical / mechanical courses. His post graduate term was at Mohawk College in Hamilton where he received the mechanical engineering technician’s certificate. Dave has several years in HVAC maintenance in commercial facilities and controls verification.

Jackie Williams, Executive Assistant

Prior to joining our team Jackie worked in the Insurance Claims industry performing administrative duties, invoicing and file management.

Since joining CFMS-West in 2008 Jackie has quickly adapted to the construction environment. She has been involved with many aspects of commissioning from responding to RFP’s to assisting with performance testing.

Jackie continues to grow in her position with CFMS-West and now maintains client relations, issues proposals, estimates and handles the accounting. Her knowledge and eagerness to learn and grow is an asset to our team.

Melinda Vooys, Administrative Assistant

Melinda graduated from the Fashion Marketing and Merchandising Program at The International Academy of Design and Technology. She began her career working in Sales and Marketing in the Interior Design Industry for four years.

In 2010 Melinda made the transition into commissioning joining the CFMS-West team. Since starting with CFMS-West, Melinda has been actively involved in the commissioning process including test form management, time management recording and invoicing. With her growing knowledge in building commissioning and energy efficiency Melinda will expand to assist with sales and marketing.
